FAQ SCUBA

Diving is a family activity that anybody older than 8 can enjoy. You don’t have to be fit or an expert to enjoy it. But, if you have any particular condition that you think might prevent you from diving, we suggest you contact your doctor first.

We carry emergency Oxygen kits on the boat, and our instructors are O2 trained because your safety is our first priority. Also, we take small groups to make sure we can give our attention to everyone.

Our price includes the classroom sessions, ebook, pool training, and your open water dives at the Nicoya Peninsula. The open water diver course fee also includes the rental of the BCD, tanks, weights, wetsuit, regulator system, air fills, and certification!

In the course, you will complete classroom sessions, a written test, a pool session, and 4 open water dives. The number of training sessions required will depend on your comfort level. We work at your own pace to make sure you make the most of the course and understand what you are doing.

Yes. We certify through SSI and PADI, which are accredited by the WRSTC, and they are backed by worldwide accreditation for life.

No, your certification lasts for a lifetime. But if you stay inactive for longer than 12 months, we strongly recommend that you take a refresher course.

This is the normal effect of water pressure pressing in on your ears, so don’t worry, you’ll be fine, assuming you have no irregularities in your ears and sinuses. Fortunately, our bodies are designed to adjust for pressure changes in our ears – you just need to learn how. If you have no difficulties adjusting to air pressure during flying, you'll probably experience no problem learning to adjust to water pressure while diving.

There are so many incredible places around the world to dive, whether you’re a total beginner or backed by years of experience. For us – and for so many visitors – Costa Rica has something really special. Whether it’s the diverse marine life just waiting to be explored, the friendly locals excited to share their country’s treasures with newcomers, or the warm waters, learning to dive – or brushing up on old skills – in Costa Rica is a dream.

FAQ FREEDIVING

In scuba diving, you use bulky equipment that allows you to breathe underwater and stay for a longer period of time. But in freediving you don’t use any breathing apparatus, you dive down using your own body. It is more about exploring yourself; it is a special sensation, and the world of silence surrounds you.

Goodwill and enthusiasm are enough, we will provide you with the rest.

That depends entirely on you. In normal freediving, you set your own limits and dive above them. But if you are interested in competitive freediving, the limits are only there so you can push them.

The average person will only be able to hold their breath underwater for a few minutes. Without any proper training, brain cells can start to starve of air and can become damaged after three minutes. But, we will teach you some techniques you can use to dive for longer.

Professional freedivers train intensively and can dive for up to nine minutes at a time without any breathing apparatus!

Diving without any breathing apparatus can be dangerous, as you could run out of air before you are able to return to the surface. This can result in a 'shallow water blackout', which can cause drowning. This is why you should never attempt to freedive without somebody else to monitor your condition and help you if you pass out.

Freediving requires a lot of physical endurance and stamina, as it puts a lot of pressure on the body when you go very deep.

However, freediving has been practiced for centuries, and as long as you follow basic safety precautions, you should be able to enjoy this sport without any problems.

FAQ WELLNESS

Practicing yoga has loads of physical benefits: it creates a flexible, toned, and strong body and improves breathing, energy, and metabolism. Yoga improves circulatory and cardiac health, as well as fitness levels, pain, and posture. It also has benefits for your mental health, making you happier, more balanced, and emotionally calmer. It helps you relax, so you can handle stress better. Yoga encourages self-confidence and helps you to focus your energy.

You can practice it whenever you want. The morning is a great time, as you might wake up stiff; so, opening up your body with some energizing yoga sets you up for the day. In the evening, you can practice more relaxing yoga to unwind after work.

You can practice yoga every day, but make sure to design the flow to suit the purpose. For example, you can do three days of higher intensity flows focusing on strength and cardio, followed by the fourth day when you keep the flow very mild, focusing only on stretching, breathing, meditation and relaxation.

Eat and drink enough before each class, ideally two hours before. We don’t recommend coming right after a heavy meal; and, especially, after drinking alcohol.

There are so many reasons why planning your yoga retreat in Costa Rica is the perfect choice, but one that really stands out to us is the incredible natural world that grows on the doorstep of every home and business in this country. Feeling at-one with nature, and being able to appreciate its sights, smells, and sounds all around you as you work to build harmony between your mind and body.
