A JOURNEY THROUGH NATURE, CULTURE, AND COASTAL HERITAGE
Discover Cemetery Island – A Sacred Place by the Sea
This 3-hour cultural experience takes you on a scenic boat ride along the stunning coastline of the southern Nicoya Peninsula. Along the way, you may spot dolphins, turtles, and even humpback whales — but the heart of the journey is the visit to Cemetery Island, a deeply meaningful and historical site for the local community.
Cemetery Island has served as a burial ground for generations, with sea-facing tombs that echo the region’s profound connection to the ocean. Walking its small paths offers a rare opportunity to reflect on the traditions, resilience, and identity of Cabuya’s people.
A TOUCH OF ADVENTURE — SNORKELING IF CONDITIONS ALLOW
After the island visit, if ocean conditions are safe and clear, we’ll offer a light snorkeling session in the shallow rocky reefs nearby. Here, you might spot colorful reef fish, sea urchins, and the occasional stingray gliding through the water.
Note: Snorkeling is not guaranteed — the safety of our guests and preservation of the reef always come first. Your guide will make a decision based on the daily sea conditions.
COASTAL HIGHLIGHTS & CABO BLANCO VIEWS
Before returning to Cabuya, we cruise past Cabo Blanco Island, one of Costa Rica’s oldest nature reserves. From the boat, you’ll get a rare perspective of its wild cliffs and pristine forest — a peaceful closing to this cultural-nature experience.
